We are committed to promoting the welfare and safeguarding all children at St. Michael's Junior Church School and expect everyone to share this commitment.

The Designated Safeguarding Leader (DSL) is Rebecca Mellor, and the Deputy DSL is Andrea Smith. Our Safeguarding Governor is Andrea Phillips

In line with our safeguarding policy and statutory guidance, we have clear procedures in school for responding to any concerns about a child’s safety or wellbeing.

At St. Michael’s, the health and safety of all children is of paramount importance. Our most important job is to keep them safe.  Parents send their children to school each day with the expectation that school provides a secure environment in which their children can flourish. St Michael’s, therefore, has to ensure that this expectation becomes reality.

We use an electronic system called CPOMS to record any concerns.

If you are concerned about a child's welfare or worried they are being abused, please contact one of the safeguarding team in school by emailing: safeguarding@stmichaels.bwmat.org

This account is monitored although not always daily.

Alternatively you can make direct contact with the Local Authority via the link below.

Safer Recruitment

The school is secure during the school day, so all visitors are asked to report to the main entrance. Please be mindful that for everybody’s safety, identification procedures will be carried out; a copy of which are displayed by the office for your information.

All members of staff are vetted against national safeguarding procedures before being allowed to work in school. At least one member of every interview panel has undertaken safer recruitment training to ensure that best practices and all necessary checks are carried out.

We now have a safeguarding e-mail address/ account that will raise an alert and will be responded to as soon as possible but may not be picked up immediately. You can use the e-mail to communicate any concerns that they have about the wellbeing and safety of children.
